What got you started in Anime?

Voltron and Transformers. Then I stopped until DBZ/Sailor Moon (Toonami!!!). However, I didn't get into downloading anime until Trigun and X

Gah, I was two when I started watching anime (seriously, that's the joke in the family) , so I'm not really sure what started it....or where the heck I found it, since I'm the only Anime-nut in the family. I do remember watching LOTS of Voltron, Transformers and Thundercats, over and over again. Then it was the DBZ, Sailor Moon, and Twin Dragons on USA (badly edited), followed by Sci-Fi's ANIME hour on Sundays....then Cartoon Networks Toonami, which was right around where it was easier to find anime.


I will however, admit to getting my little cousins hooked on Sailor Moon and Pokemon. That'll teach my family to leave kids with me so they can go have fun. I'm also responsible for hooking a good number of my friends and co-workers.

By watching anime on tv and then find better anime on the internet but now i stopped to watch because i rather read the manga because they are much further in the storyline

Hm.... I think the first anime I watched was... Akazukin Chacha? Weird since I'm a dude, I know, but still... I was a kid back then, so I just watched whatever...

The first show that REALLY got me into anime tho was probably Rurouni Kenshin. I was watchin a lot of other shows along with it back then tho (Gatekeepers, Cooking Master Boy, Grander Musashi...)

my best friend in middle school.  The type of guy who would keep bullies away from others.  He liked anime, and showed it to me, and we both related in certain ways.

FLCL.  No idea what that anime was about but it got me interested into japanese animation.

I was first interested in Anime from Street Fighter 2 and Fatal Fury Movies...

It all started with 80's cartoons like Voltron and Robotech that was ripped from Anime's and it got me interested in both Robotech and the Macross series which I like both equally.

my first was ronin kenshin .....i was just a kid back then ...just watched it as a cartoon like other cartoons but after i grew up ( not sure if i really am grown up atall .....i am 26 now but i still am a 10 year old kid inside lol)

i again started watching anime when i was 19 years ......started with dragonball z +gt then One Piece , Naruto, Bleach , GB , FMA and so on ...still going on lol

but i like reading manga

my first anime was pokemon/dbz (cant remember which one)  but i didnt know it at the time so naruto was the first anime which i had known it was an anime

Dragon Ball Z, I remember how my classmates were always talking about it and so I started watching it.

When I was in middle school, my sister showed me Soul Hunter and some of Fushigi Yuugi.

Didn't really get into anime for another four years though, when I watched Season 1 of Haruhi (solely because of the catchy EDm, even).

Of course I'm a chick so stereotypically it's because of Sailor Moon. And then like a few episodes into Sailor Moon I got ahold of Cat Girl Nuku Nuku and Tenchi Muyo In Love. Then it was DBZ.

... but seriously, I do believe I got my start on Ranma 1/2... dubbed in chinese. That was... interesting.

When I found out Pokemon was an anime and there were more episodes of it than the ones aired in my country, I got interested and discovered many more. Now I'm kind of an addict
