I usually can't sit through an entire horror film, I just get too nervous!  But two that come to mind -- probably because they spooked me pretty much -- are as follows:

The original Frankenstein movie -- it freaked me out for some reason, to the point that I couldn't stop thinking about it.  Not that it was particularly scary, but there was something about it...  Shocked  I watched it alone at night while babysitting, maybe that was it.   Wink

The Dark -- this one also stayed with me for a long time after I watched it.  Yikes!  Thankfully, they provided an alternate ending on the DVD that was much more satisfying and less frightening, whew!

Oh yeah, that movie was also great. I liked it alot.
How was the alternate ending? I only watched the regular....

Silent Hill is a good horror, although it isn't hugely scary...

Now I have doubt about which ending was which -- I'll find my copy of the movie and then report back, okay?

Oh yeah, Silent Hill is also a very good movie, but as you say it isn't very scary (and compared to the games I think it isn't scary at all xD)

Okay ^^

Not actually movie but TV series...

X-files.

Those X-files episodes with gray aliens always scared the crap out of me. Notice that I don't mean the garbage at few last seasons but around the middle of the series.

X-Files was pretty good for the timing it came out! With the somewhat cheesy opening music =)

as far as horror is concerned nothing beats The Exorcist or the original Omen. i remember watching them when i was younger and the music alone scared the crap outta me just because of the atmosphere it set in the movie.

Hi folks ^^

You're definitely not alone, Laverna =D. I'm a horror fan, too.

I also watched The Ring and Shaun of the Dead. The Ring is really creepy :O. Shaun of the Dead is a nice Zombie movie Smiley.

Some of my favourites are unusually ones:

The Tales of Terror (1962) with Vincent Price (this guy was born 1911!). Adapted from Edgar Allan Poe. My brother is a huge fan of old american movies from the 30ties to 70ties. That's why I got to see that horror treasure. A compilation of 3 short stories about being buried alive and resurrection from death. Very creepy O.o. Books by Edgar Allan Poe give me goose-bumps of fear anyways.

The Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp. a brilliant mixture between horror and comic. I loved the humour there. Johnny Depps's  a brilliant actor anyways. I'm crazy about most of his films.
Btw, did you know that īDepp` in german means dork/moron (but it's a mild, not to vulgar expression)? Hehehe....I bet Johnny Depp was told about that a thousend times by german journalists...;-)

The Blair Witch Project: What  makes the movie really angsty is the fact that you just don't see anything! And in the end you still don't know what hapened.

For zombie Films :

Shaun of the Dead is definitely awesome !

Any Romero film works for me too. Evil Dead 2 and 3 are also very fun to watch IMO ! Brain Dead was also really good !! Zombieland more recent and as funny (especially if you like or hate Bill Murray ^^)

For horror films :

Japanese versions of the ring and dark waters, very disturbing films !
Battle Royale (not really horror but horrible nonetheless) !
