If I could do that then I would have done it a long time ago, but unfortunately, I dont have the kind of ability, or rather, this forum doesn't have that kind of option.

I could lower the post count rule down to five posts, and then keep making it so that the amount of posts you need goes up every week, but that would be a hassle that could potentially cause a bunch of problems.

Could you instead drop ALL post counts to zero about twice in week, and have count rule to 1 or 2 posts?

I don't believe I could do that ether. I would have to manually go through each account and reset their post counts. Not to mention that would be unfair to people who worked hard to get their post counts, I believe SH and rodlyn were even competing for who would get to 300 posts first.

But like I said, if this doesn't work out then I will deal with it in another way. I figured that this idea would at least be worth a shot.

Wow! That  a lot thinking involve!  Grin I think that fifteen post is not that hard...on some forums, I had to get thirty post before I could download their chapters...that was a bit annoying.  Lips Sealed 15 post is nice number I think to chomp on! The idea about posting weekly is good idea. It lowers the amount of spam and increases amount of interaction. However,  we should at least test it out to see if it works. Also I was wondering if there was a way to make it post only count if you type certain amount of words! This way the amount of spam would decrease and forces people to speak out their thought...as for those people whom don't know English...err, why would they be downloading from our site if they can't read English. Couldn't they download better raws from somewhere else? As for shy people, I feel sorry for their anxiousness, but it will help them get over shyness...plus we don't bite! Or at least I don't!

On side note, if we do go with two post per week...maybe there can be automated system that emails the password to unlock part of site after two post...

Like I said above, I dont really have the ability to do a 2 post per week thing, so that option is impossible. I dont even think that is possible for a vbulitin forum, and that type of forum is the top of the line. I agree with everything else you said though.

I guess we just have to hope SMF updates their forum code to have that option someday. It's not like it would require any real changes to forums.

I knew something was new when members were suddenly posting very diligently. Good decision!!  Smiley I also think having to post a couple of posts every week to see the links will be a great way to create activity in the forums. Or else leechers will just spam their way to 15 and just stop. I hope an option like that becomes available in the future in the forum code to make it easier for mods and admin to implement it.

Guilty of said offence. Hence, this is post number one! Smiley

But O Great Moderator, I am an uninteresting person who does not wish to bother other ppl with my mundane life's boredom. To subject fellow enjoyers of Manga in general, and Get Backers in particular, to such cruelties due to no fault of their own.. suffice it to say me heart bleedeth for my brethren  Angry

EDIT: I like ^above's idea of two posts a week or something like that. That would stop Bad Karma like me who would spam to 15 and having reached the Gates of Liberation, stop the toil to the community.

Now, now!  Don't go talking bad about yourself before we even get to know you!   Grin  There is no such thing as an uninteresting person, imho -- and I'm sure you won't be a burden to the community.  I can tell already!  I trust that by the time you share your 15 posts with us, you'll be hooked and so much a part of the community you won't even think of quitting.

Bad idea. It's rather obvious that if someone thanked for chapter 250th he was also thankful for previous chapters and I don't see a point of saying thanks in every thread there is. If someone got here after 4 new chapters were released (for example I, since I don't have time to check for every update) posting thanks in all four threads would be spamming IMO. It looks like if I started spamming I would already have access to newest chapter (and I can't say thanks now since the thread is hidden). There is also another consequence of not being able to access newest chapters: I can't post in the latest chapter discussion thread because I will be spoiled (and that's practically the only thread I would be willing to post in). Blah.

P.S.
I wonder how many people replied in this thread to have one more post Cheesy (I won't hide that it was the main reason for me rambling).

Edit:
I wonder though how many people will be still staying on this forum once Get Backers is finished. It is so specialized that I'm afraid once scanlations are complete only moderators, administrators and people making scanlations will remain unless it suddenly changes it's name or sth.

The idea about posting twice a week to get the new chapter would really be the best if only it could be possible; however, on the other hand, trying to increase the number of post every tot time is not a good idea imo because in a long period (just say 6 months for example) the number of posts required to get che chapters would be incredibly big and impossible to be reached by new users.

No, since it's really common, I agree with the idea of the 15 posts, or maybe 20 but if I can suggest no more than 25 or it would become annoying and it would provoke the creation of so many spamming and/or useless posts of no help for the community.

I admit.. this is my very first post

I LOVE the series Get backers and I'm VERY thankful that you guys are releasing the final volumes because there is still no good translation out there. So for that: thanks

But to be honest: I think this 15 posts rule is a BAD idea. Isn't scanlation there to bring untranslated stuff from japan to us poor people, who don't speak japanese and still enjoy reading manga? what's the point in publishing your work for only so limited people? 15 posts are A LOT, if you don't want to write things everyone else already said. I'm a person myself who don't likes chatting in forums. Am I a bad Get backers fan because of that? Do I deserve less to read your work as the other posters, who only posts probably without wasting many thoughts about what they are writing  Roll Eyes
Actually I feel encouraged right now not comming to this forrm again  Embarrassed

I think a lot of people will only spam or post things everyone else has already said and after 15 posts the will disappear again.

i think scanlation groups don't like it when some guys only download new chapter and don't even THANK. That's a little mean...
so if there don't have post limit then people just download chapters and don't chat or whatsoever. What's the meaning of forum then?
these are my thoughts I've no intention to be mean to you :'D <3

but i understand you very well too..i don't like to chat very much 'cause i'm a little wary for my english. And "i agree with you" posts are meaningless...it's the same as you don't post at all.

Soon when everybody has 15 post...they put 45 Grin then we have to post more again! heheheh~~ just kidding!

Kurodo already pretty much covered your post. The reason I decided to give this a try is because there are so many people that come in here, and take our chapters without even writeing in and saying something as simple as "thank you, that was a great chapter, I appreciate you working hard to get these chapters out" or something like that. The reason most scan groups scan manga is to please the fans, and when we don't even get a word of thanks, its not very encouraging. Weather you decide to leave is your choice, I decided to do this as a test for a few weeks, and if it doesn't work out then Ill figure something else out. But so far that doesn't seem to be the case, and this idea is working out great.

I really have no intention of increasing the amount of of posts you need every so often, I was just explaining to our other members that that type of idea really wouldn't work out for the reasons you have already said. I think 15 posts is a good number, if anything I may even lower the number later on.

Read the rest f my post, I already pretty much covered what you were talking about above.

I wonder how many people replied in this thread to have one more post Cheesy (I won't hide that it was the main reason for me rambling).

As long as its a meaningfull post It doesn't really matter if you replied only to get the post count.

I actually have a few other manga's that I would like to scanslate, Ayamine Rando and Aoki yuya have actually started on a new project together, so I was thinking that once we get some more scanslators we could start on that, and maybe even holy talker(by Rando).

Heh. Disregard what I said. Looks like your gambit paid off, Vent  Cool

So far its working pretty well, Ive had to warn a few people about spamming but that was about it.

Well, this idea is definitely working! Everyone is posting some more! As for two post per week nearly impossible since the programs from forum doesn't allow it...but hey its free! You pay what you get for!

I think once we start a new project...we should really think about changing our name to something like Ayamine Rando Works (Definitely need a shorter name)or something like that! It is rather silly to use this name, once we starting a different project,

As for everyone else whom is annoyed by idea...err you guys complaining about posting 15 comments...you do realize that posting that amount should not take longer than hour, right? It is not that long...DO you know how LONG it takes me to clean and edit then typeset the chapter? It takes me roughly 30 hours to release a CHAPTER...so please don't complain. Not to mention, we had roughly 250 members of which ONLY 20 people were active on the board that about 8% that actually talking on board. And for those people whom regularly thank us for our hard work and remain active, thank you for your diligence! It actually made me work harder! And for people whom finally posting, it is a pleasure to finally meet you!  Grin
