Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria is probably my favorite series (really wish there were a timeline for the fifth one).
Haruhi, Zero no Tsukaima and Fate/Zero are also quite good.
I'd love to read Baccano!, but unfortunately the translation effort is a bit of a fragmented mess - and they seem to be ignoring the novels covered in the anime.
