16  Claymans Secret Gallery / The Sig and Avatar Shop / Wow... So... Anyone taking requests? on: May 24, 2011, 10:46:57 am
Man this spot is deserted...

I kinda wanna make a request for a sig, but before I do, I wanna know if there's anyone who would make one....
17  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: Forget quality! What are the WORST anime you've ever watched? on: May 24, 2011, 10:24:51 am
Worst anime eh...? Well I currently can't access my list of anime that I've watched, so I'll just mention some that I remember right now... This list is obviously subject to change later on.

NOTE: These are not necessarily the "worst" I've seen. Just those that I disliked/were disappointed by.
NOTE2: I RARELY drop anime (and manga), so I know what I'm talking about since this is usually after I've seen the whole series.
NOTE3: Most of my reasons for disliking an anime is due to excessive fanservice. This does not mean I dislike fanservice... I just dislike it when there's no balance between fanservice and other forms of entertainment (plot, action, comedy, etc.)

Rosario+Vampire = I've been following the manga since it first popped up. In all honesty, the manga is pretty good (especially now with the current arc.) Action, romance, some ecchi, and comedy, it was one of those mangas that I could really enjoy... The anime tho focused a hell lot more on the fanservice... This ruined the experience greatly... At the same time almost all fight scenes end with a single kick from Moka.. Sure enough it's like that in the manga too, but in the manga you could picture the fight better... In the anime, she does one kick and it's done pretty much every time...

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou = I never got to read the novel (it has one right?) nor the manga, so I didn't know what to expect. The first episode REALLY intrigued me (plot seemed somewhat interesting, some comedy, etc.) Episode 2 onwards just plain made me sick. Almost all of it was dedicated to fanservice and randomness... The plot was still there, but it could've been delivered a lot better... Everything seemed so rushed too... How I described it to my friend: "It's like taking a series that should've been 26 episodes and cramming it into 13. Then every part that could've been potentially good was used for extra (and pointless) fanservice."

To-Love-Ru = I know that the manga is also fanservice/ecchi centered, but the anime was a lot worse.. At least the manga kinda followed a plot...

Dragon Crisis = God... Okay, now let's see.. The plot of this was honestly rather good... The only thing that REALLY ruined it for me was Rie Kugimiya... Don't get me wrong, I love the tsundere queen, but this is the first time I've EVER been annoyed by her voice... "Ryuji suki!!! Suki suki suki!!! Daisuki!!! Ryuji daisuki!!! Suki suki!!!" God... My ears were burning.... As I read in another forum "A great storyline was ruined by terrible characters."

Ladies vs. Butlers = Clearly you can see how anti-too-much-fanservice I am right? I don't need to explain then...

Haruhi 2 (endless 8 ) = Honestly, after episode 3 I had no idea why I was still watching... Didn't drop it, but that was perhaps the biggest waste of time in my life...

Puella Magi Madoka Magica = I know people love it, but hear me out. I don't HATE this, it just disappointed me greatly... The story was great and the idea behind everything was awesome, but the show disappointed me BIG TIME. Why: The main character was terrible... Seriously... Rant below:
First off, when you see the title you clearly expect the main character to be the focus.. It clearly even says "Puella Magi" (or mahou shoujo) so you expect it to focus on her battles/experiences a LOT. Even the OP focuses on her and shows her in her mahou shoujo form. We only get to see this form in action in 2 episodes... The last and the Homura flashback episode. After the first 4 episodes, I was wondering why the hell she's the title character.. All she ever did was cry and whine... It got annoying (and trust me, I normally have high tolerance for such characters.. she just ticked me off) She was useless throughout a majority of the series!

Let's see the other characters: Mami was interesting. She was amazing in almost every scene she popped up in. What happened to her? SHE DIED IN EP 3! Now I know that great characters usually die in series to make the other characters develop, but the others barely developed. Madoka stayed useless, and Miki decided to become awesome. The question I often asked tho was why the hell didn't they try to use a wish to revive Mami? Kyubey mentioned many times that they can wish for ANYTHING. They never asked if they could revive her, he never said they couldn't. They just let her stay dead.... Seriously...

Miki became interesting, but she became way too dark... Sure, this series is supposed to present the dark side to the life of mahou shoujos, but she was way too dark... Her wish was wasted coz her love went to someone else, and she became way too unstable when they realized their souls were in the Gems... Your soul isn't in yer body, BIG DEAL!!!!! It shouldn't be hard to come up with the idea that "I'm still alive, I'm still me." Instead, she went crazy...

Kyoko and Homura were probably the best characters (along with Mami of course, but she got killed off) Kyoko had a nice backstory, and also didn't go too crazy when the truth was out...

Homura in my honest opinion should've been the main character... Seriously... I mean, you find out the story basically revolves around her and her actions... She had an amazing backstory and development. And she had the best action...

Another problem: The ending... Sure enough Kyubey was hinting the whole time that Madoka could be godly, but what the hell.. She just does one thing, and the big bad guy goes poof.. It's ridiculous.. And the wish she made didn't really help in all honestly.. More enemies continue to pop up... her wish could've  been put to better use in so many other damn ways...

Like I said, I don't HATE the show, but with how many said "It's the best show of the season" I was greatly disappointed...
As mentioned above, I rarely drop shows.. I usually do so only if I miss too many episodes. The following are shows I dropped because of hatred (so I suppose the following are the worst for me)
Shows I absolutely hated (and actually dropped)

K-On! (season 1 and 2) = Seriously.. When I first heard of it (4 girls making a music club/rock band) I didn't think the whole "They'll do drugs, sex, etc." I thought "Hey, this MIGHT be like BECK (which I loved.)" God was I wrong...
In all honesty, I DO watch some shows that are moe-centric, as long as they give me some good laughs (A Channel is a decent example.) K-On just made me sick... I didn't HATE the songs (unlike some people), but they weren't good either... The comedy was boring, the attempts to be cute were laughable (disgusting even), and almost everything was just plain random... Season 1 I did not drop, because despite hating it, it was tolerable (the songs were okay back then.

I dropped season 2 at episode 10... It focused even less on the music than season 1 did, and the songs were worse... More randomness and pathetic attempts to be funny, and a hell lot more sickening attempts to be cute... The gags were often the repeated too... The big thing that kept going through my mind was "These girls are supposed to be graduating from High School soon? THAT CAN'T BE RIGHT!" I mean, they're supposed to be heading to college, but they all look like middle schoolers.... It was ridiculous... Like I said, I dropped season 2, so whether they looked different when they entered college or not is something I don't know, but I don't really care.

Last one I'll say for now: Freezing

I LOVE the manga (or manhwa...whatever you'll call it) but the anime I dropped after episode 2. Simply because of the breasts... I mean, the manga had fanservice, but it never actually exposed breasts until the most recent chapters. From what I saw in the anime, they even focus on how the clothes are torn and such way too much in battle... Sure, it makes sense, but they didn't have to focus on it THAT much...

That's all for now, I've ranted enough...
18  Welcome / Introductions / Re: Hello World on: May 24, 2011, 06:41:23 am
Quota reached, but I'll be here once in a while since it seems rather fun... Lemme fix my intro a bit:

Like I said, name is RelM (pronounced as realm)
I've been a typesetter for around 2 years now. My starting group was CXC scans.

I am currently a typesetter for: CXC scans, maigo scans, Trinity BAKumA scans, For the Halibut scans, and Village Idiot scans (which is the most recent that I've joined.. probably been with them for a month right now.)

Projects I work on are:
CXC: Sacred Blacksmith, Hanamaru Kindergarten, Kamisama Dolls
Maigo = Tasogare Otome X Amnesia, Paradox Blue, Hitogatana, Himawari, O/A, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Trinity BAKumA = Addicted to Curry (tho sometimes they ask me to work on other things on rare occasions)
For the Halibut = AKane-iro ni Somaru Saka (it's ending soon, so I'm not sure what project they'll give me next)
Village Idiot scans = I work on anything they ask me to (so far: Spas-Pa, Dousei Recipe, Sekitou Elegy, Trinity 7, Katsuko Otsukaeshimasu!, Go! Tenba Cheerleaders)

Things I did before:
Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunnally, Yozakura Quartet, Tokyo ESP (this one is kinda on hiatus for us...)

Basically I work on almost anything as long as it ain't really hentai (or BL/GL)

Of course, as one would guess being in 5 groups can be kinda taxing, but I enjoy my work.
19  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: ~* Your Anime Wishlist... *~ on: May 24, 2011, 06:30:45 am
I would love to see animes of most of the stuff I work on... (tho Sacred Blacksmith, Sket Dance, and Hanamaru Youchien already had animes)

Hitogatana = it would be great to see the fights animated
Tasogare Otome X Amnesia = I would love to see the artstyle animated
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai = actually, it IS getting an anime soon, so...look forward to it
Kamisama Dolls = same as above
O/A = the idea is an idol who shares the same voice with a comedian.. I would love to see a seiyuu playing both a Boke and Tsukkomi at the same time...
Addicted to Curry = I've seen a fair number of cooking anime.. Why isn't there on for this?!
ARAGO = it's awesome. End of story.
Medaka Box = would be nice to see...
Paradox Blue = actually, I kinda wanna see one and kinda don't...
Tokyo ESP = from the maker of Ga-Rei...

Remake:
Yozakura Quartet = OVAs are not enough.. and the art in the OVAs is weird....
20  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: New season, new series shows. on: May 24, 2011, 06:24:15 am
I'm watching too many this season... I follow
Tiger and Bunny (I thought it was stupid coz of the title, but when my brother recommended it, I got hooked)
Sket Dance (the manga is funny and so is the anime)
Hanasaku Iroha (HOBIRON!)
A Channel (tho the manga is funnier)
Lotte no Omocha (people stay away from it because they expect it to be perverse, but I follow the manga and the anime, and it ain't bad. Not a lot of fanservice - which is a good thing for me)

I plan to follow a lot of others too, but I haven't tried them yet....

Also, regarding Puella Magi Madoka Magica, I really don't get why some people call it "one of the best anime ever." I mean... I liked it, but it wouldn't be in my top 10 list... The title and the OP of the show are so misleading since the title character doesn't really do anything.....
21  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Manga Discussion / Re: Worst moments in manga and anime. on: May 24, 2011, 06:18:17 am
There are aren't THAT many bad mangas actually.. It's usually a manga that either starts off bad but gets good, or started good but became bad due to it being rushed (since it got axed)

Examples: Lock-on. The premise was good (photography and main character with a special eye.) It got rushed tho and became a bit bad later on due to it not being so popular (so it had to end early.) There's another photograpy manga called Kimiiro focus which I read too that hasn't been axed yet... Weird thing is, the premise isn't THAT great IMO, but it's still ongoing.. I suppose it's because it features more fanservice...

Which brings me to my "worst moments" thing.

I hate manga/anime that become too focused on fanservice... An example would be Freezing. There is a tolerable amount in the manga/manhwa (whatever you classify it as...), but the anime had too much fanservice... It's the reason I didn't even bother with the anime... Also Rosario+Vampire... The manga is interesting with a tolerable amount of fanservice, but the anime had too much and made it ridiculous...
22  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Manga Discussion / Re: Favorite Manga/Manhwa Demographic on: May 24, 2011, 06:02:59 am
I'm pretty sure BL, GL, and Hentai would fall under genre rather than demographic...

Anyway, I stick to seinen nowadays, but most of the ones I've read are shounen... I think I've read one or two shoujo before tho... Haven't read any josei...

25  Interests and Hobbies / Games / Re: BlazBlue on: May 24, 2011, 05:51:19 am
I got MvC3 and BB2 at the same time... I didn't touch MVC3 for a month because I was too busy loving BB2... When I went to MvC3, I played it for a week only before going back to BB2...

Can't wait for Continuum Shift 2
26  Other / Off topic / Re: Word game! Match the last letter with first letter of next word! on: May 24, 2011, 05:48:00 am

27  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: Durarara! on: May 24, 2011, 05:44:49 am
There's a 12.5? Didn't know that...

I usually tell people nowadays tho that they've gotta be crazy if they haven't watched Durarara! Of course, they tell me I don't have the right to say that since I haven't seen Baccano yet...
28  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: What got you started in Anime? on: May 24, 2011, 05:42:27 am
Hm.... I think the first anime I watched was... Akazukin Chacha? Weird since I'm a dude, I know, but still... I was a kid back then, so I just watched whatever...

The first show that REALLY got me into anime tho was probably Rurouni Kenshin. I was watchin a lot of other shows along with it back then tho (Gatekeepers, Cooking Master Boy, Grander Musashi...)
29  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu on: May 24, 2011, 05:35:22 am
Loved the show and the OVAs. Anyway, quick question: wasn't there a season 2 announced when season 1 ended or is my memory just playing tricks on me?
