1  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Movie on: August 28, 2012, 01:02:28 am
Rurouni Kenshin the live action movie was just shown in Japan last Saturday.  Here's the trailer:

The action scenes look amazing! Has anyone here seen it? Does anyone know when it'll be shown internationally?

Thanks, Lin!  It has been quiet around here, as well as in FF.net lately, that I sometimes wonder where all the GB fans are.  This forum reminds me that yes, there are still GB fans around  Smiley  So thank you for maintaining this site.  It's very much appreciated!
3  Claymans Secret Gallery / Artists Gallery / A GB Story on: August 22, 2012, 02:01:06 pm
Hi everyone!

Let me just start off by saying that I write fanfics.

I know the GB series has been over for years now, but if you're like me, you probably still hunger for anything new regarding our favorite retrieval duo.  Although it doesn't seem likely that we will get a new official GB story arc, in my mind, the adventures of the great Get Backers will continue to go on.  In short, I let my imagination get the best of me, and I continue to write fanfics.

Sooo... If you're bored, and up for it, you can read my crackfic attempt at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2302674/1/Of_Dreams_And_Magic.  I know this doesn't even come close to the epic-ness of the GB story, but it's very quiet now in the GB community, and this is my own way of keeping the GB fandom alive.  But yeah, this one's crack.

It's a work in progress, so feedback is welcome.

Did I mention that it's crack? (Just making sure that you know what you should expect... Smiley)

To the moderators, I'm not sure what section this post should be on (Is fanfic art? Probably not...), so if it's in the wrong section, please feel free to move it to the appropriate one.

Does 3D animation count?  The latest one that I loved is "Up".  I thought the dog was hilarious Smiley

As for the classics, I like most of them, but The Little Mermaid is one of my favorites.  I have a fascination with things under the sea.

Oh, that's an easy one for me - Beauty and the Beast. I even remember how obsessed I was with this movie when I was little. At the age of three or four years, I was so enchanted by it that I alsmot never left the TV screen, for as soon as I had finished watching it, I did just rewind the tape and watch it once, twice or THRICE again because I couldn't get enough of it. Sure, my family still loves the movie to bits as well, but I imagine it miiight have been a liiiiittle too annoying for them to hear "Belle... You came back!" three or four times a day. XD
Still, it remains one of my absolute favourite movies of all time - if not THE most favourite. Well, if anything, it's easily the movie I've watched the most times, no question about that. Speaking of which, I must say it was a wonder that the tape didn't crash sooner than it did. In fact, it only "broke" like, last year or something (and it wasn't anything major like that, just that a tiny "BEEEEEP" noise could be hard in the background throughout the whole movie), and considering we got it on video when I was 3-4, and I'm 21 now... That tape must have had nine lives or something. XD

You remind me of my co-worker's daughter.  She's about 4, I think.  She came to my workplace one time and I found out that she loves Beauty and the Beast.  I quickly searched online for videos of Belle and man.. she just wanted to watch it over and over again.  She didn't want to leave.  She was not happy when her mom came to tell her it's time to go home hehehe.
7  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Anime Discussion / Re: What did you like about GB? on: March 21, 2011, 08:33:44 pm
Ahh, yes. I thought the voice actors for GB were great!  I didn't pay attention to voice actors before I got hooked on GB.
8  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: Rouran... or Loulan? on: March 18, 2011, 12:02:20 pm
I think it's Loulan.  The Japanese do interchange the "R" and the "L" sounds.  I've heard some of them say "Rorripop" (yes, they were referring to the candy).
9  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Anime Discussion / What did you like about GB? on: March 14, 2011, 12:03:10 pm
With several other anime series out there, what is it about the Get Backers that drew you in?  Is it the story? Is it the characters?  Is it the character's interaction among one another? Is it the action?  Is it the comedy?  Is it Ban?  (oh, wait... that would be me  Tongue)

For me it was all of the above, but one other thing that I really liked was how they incorporated real objects into their stories, such as the Stradivarius, Van Gogh's Sunflowers, Venus de Milo, Kingdom of Loulan, etc...  It spoke to the inner geek in me and made me want to know more about these things.

What about you, guys?
10  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Anime Discussion / Re: Your favourite GB voices and why? on: March 14, 2011, 11:53:10 am
Akabane.   The affectionate way he says "Ginji-kun" just sends chills down my spine.  I'd go chibi as well if I was Ginji.

Just as I thought. Mido Ban for the 1st quiz Smiley Haven't done the others yet
12  Welcome / Introductions / Hi everyone! on: March 11, 2011, 07:50:04 pm
Another new member here.  I've been a fan of the series since 7 years ago.  I admit that I've waned in my fanaticism the past few years, but I've recently refound my past obsession.  I'm glad to find that GB continues to live on and that there are still a lot of fans out there. I hope I can contribute to discussion on our favorite retrieval team!
