1  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: The tournament fight you liked the most (Vol 30) on: January 01, 2011, 12:18:28 am
I enjoyed Akabane's fight a lot (if I'd realised I could vote for more than one I probably would've voted for his too!), but my absolute favourite was Ginji's match, purely because his opponent seemed to be almost a complete antithesis of his power; the absolute worst match up he could've received. Besides, the science nerd in me enjoyed the scientific points about the vaccuum and the transferral of energy back into I.F. Wink
2  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: Rouran... or Loulan? on: January 01, 2011, 12:15:21 am
As there's the info to back it up, I'd side more with Loulan. But to be honest, I'm so used to seeing it as Rouran that it has a better ring to it for me, lol! Besides, whenever I imagine the terms, I imagine them spoken in Japanese, and since Japanese pronunciation equates 'l' sounds to 'r' sounds, it makes more verbal sense to go with that pronunciation, even if its spelt or more correctly known as Loulan. Smiley
3  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: between the two on: January 01, 2011, 12:12:45 am
I'd like to think Ginji's the stronger, because as much as people argue his strength is lessened without the power of Infinity Fortress surrounding him, he's shown great ability to harness his strength outside its walls.

The main reason though that I prefer to think of him as more powerful, is that whilst people may argue about Ban's level of control, on pure strength and power alone, Ginji comes out on top (if we count Ginji and Raitei as one being, that is) and if he turns Raitei, then Ginji has no emotional boundaries and isn't caught up in tactics/battle strategies; he just does as he feels, aka destroys anything in his path. He doesn't think about what he's doing as Ban does - taking time to understand and work out how to succeed in the battle ; he simply comprehends things on a very basic level and does whatever is necessary to survive.

lol, watch me get ranty. idk, either way, I'd prefer not to see it as a competition between the two as to who's strongest; let's just say they work together perfectly as two halves to the same whole team. Wink
4  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: Original Japanese Covers on: January 01, 2011, 12:06:51 am
Thanks for posting these links Lin!  Not the OP, but I keep everything really highly organised (frankly, I get a bit OCD about it all, and the presentation is a massive stickler for me!) so having the original cover scans really helps!

 Thanks again! Smiley
5  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: Minor characters that you can't forget. on: January 01, 2011, 12:04:36 am
Natsuki Amon was an awesome character, must admit, and really one of my favourite minor characters...

But in all honesty, Ten Yen-kun is my absolute favourite. Seriously; he's absolutely awesome when he's a throw-away character in the beginning, but when his story is brought out a bit during the Divine Design Arc and he's made into something more of an Arc character, he really shines.

That said, Get Backers is an amazing series for minor characters, even bit-part roles, that you care about and enjoy very easily, even when they've only been there for a short period of time, or have even only appeared momentarily. The character development that occurs throughout the manga is stunning, and part of what really draws me into it. <3
6  Claymans Secret Gallery / The AMV Studio / Re: AMV for Akabane? on: December 31, 2010, 11:59:37 pm
I'm sure I saw a really good one on animemusicvideos.org a while back when I first got into Get Backers, but my best mate then was waaaay more into Aakabane than I was at the time, so I didn't pay much attention. At the very least, it wouldn't hurt trying to search that site for some; they tend to have pretty decent amvs for ALL characters there if you just search for the right person. Smiley

Good luck!
7  Claymans Secret Gallery / The AMV Studio / Re: Getbackers Parody.. on: December 31, 2010, 11:56:23 pm
Saw this on Youtube way back and totally loved it! Had no idea its owner was floating around here! Wink  Awesome with the Star Wars theme and all; it completely brought out the inner sci-fi nerd in me. Wink

Hope we can see more of your work in the future! Smiley

13  Welcome / Introductions / Re: Unoriginal Form of Salutations on: December 31, 2010, 11:44:46 pm
Hey! Welcome to the forum (even if I am newer than you, lol!)  You sound a lot like my best friend; she's awful at doing this kind of stuff, but only starting becoming active in a community for this one series she really loved; but don't worry, it'll all be fun and get a lot less scary as time goes by. Have fun, and see you around! Smiley
14  Welcome / Introductions / Re: i just want to donwload XD on: December 31, 2010, 11:42:41 pm
lol! Love the honesty! It's mainly what I'm here for too, since I'm not a big fan of forums, but from what I've seen the Get Backers fandom is really friendly, so at the very least you won't have to deal with the crazies some other fandoms suffer from while you're here! Wink
15  Welcome / Introductions / Hey! Just popping in to say hi! :) on: December 31, 2010, 11:39:42 pm
Hi there!

I'm sake_chan, and a MASSIVE Get Backers fan! I've only just recently got back into it though, as I've been so busy for the past 2/3 years, so I've been doing my utter best to catch up  on everything I missed when I was new to the series! Wink

Hope you'll treat me kindly; just here to have a good time and enjoy the series I love with other fans. Smiley  Any questions you'd like to ask? Fire away! Wink I hope we can all have fun and I'll meet some nice people.

Best wishes, and Happy New Year to you all!

sake_chan xXx
