Aw shucks! I'm really glad you like them!  Grin Grin Grin

Thanks for the compliments! It's one of the best things when someone can look at a work and describe what's good and what's bad about it. We need more people like you.  Wink
Ginji's colour scheme was the toughest 'cos he has so many accessories and details, he went through several different colour changes, but it worked out in the end. Whew!

But really, thank you for your wonderful imagination that make these drawings so interesting to colour! <3<3<3
I look forward to seeing more great work from you!

Just wondering though, are you using wooden pencils for these drawings? Might I suggest trying mechanical pencils? Yeah I know art teachers are always going NO MECHANICAL PENCILS!1!1!! but, I think you'll get cleaner, darker lines, which will help with the manga style look. Although your current pencil line work already gives a sense of softness and warmth, so I'm not sure... I think I'm confusing myself @___@

4  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Anime Discussion / Re: Which are your fav soundtracks, and songs? on: August 13, 2011, 04:26:47 am
I'm finally bringing myself to answer these awesome threads, hahaha. Avoiding spoilers and stuff XD

It's been a while since I've listened to the GetBackers soundtracks, although I still remember all of the Japanese openings and endings.

For my favourite songs in the anime, it would definitely be Barairo no Sekai, the 2nd opening. It's just... upbeat, and positive! And it's within my pathetic vocal range and an awesome song to sing, hahaha.

"Even now the desperate world may be at its end, but it is not over yet.
You started to abandon hope. Surely the scenery we’d started to give up on will seem rose-coloured if we’re together."
<3333

And "Evil Eyes" by Ban.
I didn't know GetBackers had character songs until my friend let me listen to Kanna Nobutoshi's song. And that's when we heard him sing EVIL RICE and can never hear it as anything else EVER AGAIN. Give it a listen! Other than the rice, this song is fantastic and really IS everything Ban is. The attitude, especially. Ahhh, he sings brilliantly~ I gotta find this in the karaoke song list! Evil Rice, Evil Rice, Just a minute~

AND "Born Again" by Ginji.
Watching GetBackers, I became a HUGE fan of Morikubo Showtaro. Watching Prince of Tennis helped too. After following more shows he voiced in, you can tell he usually does punks, or misunderstood kids with attitude problems or something. Like Kadaj from Final Fantasy. So I found "Born Again" after I listened to his other Rock-ish Character songs (You can tell he LOVES rock, and english words in his lyrics), and GASP! This, this has got to be the only song where he's so sappy and carefree! There is no other song that I know of where he sounds like this. (If you DO know, let me know!) This song blew my mind. I didn't know Morikubo had it in him! This song is a favourite because it's so drastically different from all his other songs. THUMBS UP!

AND "TWINS" by Ban and Ginji.
JUST CAUSE THEY ARE SINGING TOGETHER. Even if I'm extremely disappointed in the instrumentation and the mood. Kanna Nobutoshi and Morikubo Showtaro obviously belongs in the Rock music catagory, so why don't they have a rock song together?! But they still sound asdfghjkl AWESOME, so it's okay.

For the soundtracks, there were some fantastic tracks, and some forgettable ones, but one of my favourites would be the mostly piano track, "Reminiscence". It's just, really beautiful, and calming.

"Bloom" is also really really great. The tempo increase, and that string instrument (the koto?). "MakubeX" is really haunting and sad, it makes you feel like the world is empty and void ;____;

Being a fan of jazz and most of its variations, "GetBackers", "Gymnopedie?" and "Honky Tonk Wan" are just perfect!

Strangely enough, I feel that the other tracks, mostly the fighting music, don't have much of an impact by themselves. Without the anime to really bring out the feelings and emotions, to me they aren't that powerful and gripping, but that's just my personal opinion :P

....... EVIL RICE!

Hello!

I've been looking at all your drawings for a while, but never actually commented. And I saw your comment over at Greed's thread so I felt kinda bad. I'm considered an artist still in training, needing to learn figure drawing for 2D and 3D animations, and I know how it feels to not get any comments and some sign of recognition (curse you school forums!!)

Sooooo.. I shall do my best to give comments to you on your latest works! Please don't kill me!

I know next to nothing about Seiken Densetsu 3, I watched the trailer and knew it was a nice game and I would suck at it, but I searched up for the original artworks so that I could see where your interpretations are.

For Duran, I really like his proportions and his hot bod and the added details you given him, especially the belts across his chest.
The top of his head gear could afford to be drawn a little more to the right, so that it can align with the angle his head is turned to.

For Angela, I like your version a hundred times better than the original. I love her hair (the curls, and the front long strands), the ribbons , the ornate neckpiece, and the designs of her costume.
Drawing wise, I think her left breast looks a little off. It seems to be too far apart from her right breast (which looks very nice). Her left arm also looks a bit strange. The elbow should be at waist level. The belly button is also mostly below waist level as well.

For Lise, I really really like her corset thing and her head piece. I'm not sure what to make out of the spiky leaves on her head and her shoulders, though. Kinda distracting. They don't look like they are going in the right direction. Her left forearm is too long, I think. But I like her skirt, it flows well :)

For Hawk (I believe I cringed at his original colour scheme) I love everything you designed on him, the egyptian/arabic designs fits a lot better for a guy from the Desert Kingdom. The only design I don't like is his weapon. It looks like a sickle to me, and not terribly threatening.
Proportion-wise, he's missing some of his left shoulder, and the elbow is too high. I really like his right arm though, it's really nicely drawn. Maybe you can use that arm to measure where his waist is, then draw the left arm.

For Kevin, the first time I saw your drawing I went "Woah! He looks REALLY good!" Then I looked at the official art and know which one to call my favourite. His wild hair is fantastic, and so is the pose. I'm beginning to think I'm a sucker for fluffy linings.
I'm still not familiar with the male abs so I can't comment on them, although I find his fuzzy chest pretty amusing. I think I see an extra finger on his left hand :)

Finally, Carlie. Her jester hat is. SO. CUTE! You gave Carlie really pretty eyes. I really like the lace design, collar, her hair. The front piece with the sun symbol I like, although you may want to cut done on the folds there. Too many lines going around for me, personally. I'm not sure about the poofy sleeves because they make her shoulder look wider. I haven't learnt much about children's proportions, but maybe you can draw the dress waist slightly higher, 'cos it looks like her legs are a little short.

Bleh, that's one long comment. I think I can go and die now. Sorry if I sound like an ass at any point of this long reply. I'm still not as good at proportions and drawing as I would like to be. And please excuse any language errors that I may have missed.

But let me tell you that I really like all the drawings you've been doing, and I admire your passion. It's not easy getting comments on every single piece of work 'cos people (including myself) tend to only go for characters and fandoms they know. But keep on drawing!

On a last note, my brain has been screaming at me to colour your Ban and Ginji geisha drawings ever since I first laid eyes on them. (Maybe not Ginji, his headpiece looks unnerving to me, but he's my favourite character >w<) May I please give them a go? And would you mind if I went over your pencil lines, 'cos it's kinda hard for me to see just as it is.

:D

Almost all of the old Disney cartoons were my favourite cartoons as a kid. Especially Winnie-the-Pooh. Gosh i love the opening song.

and because I'm such a nerd: Myth Busters. Seriously, it's very, very cool.

I agree 1000% on Mythbusters.
I recently started watching White Collar, and i think it's really smart.
Although i hate the transitions, with rock music and electric guitar and on screen... a house?!

Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.

Ninja Warrior or Sasuke, anyone?

Play Alice is Dead from Newgrounds! It's a really short point and click mystery game, but the look, the feel, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The music and the voice acting are spot on. It's also really creepy when you're playing late at night alone.
There are 3 episodes to play. Stay til the end of the credits!!
