The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / Re: List of Anime Sites

Awww...thanks a lot, Lin, for your great recommendations. I don't know most of your sites! I'll try them out asap:). Okay, I know ANN and Nihonomaru, sorry, i forgot to mention them in my list. Nihonomaru seems to be not so well stocked, right. I mean for anime and OST. But they have 2 good recommendations for dling OST which I mainly use. The guys from Nihonomaru upload practically everything they can get their hands on . I'm very interested in Anime-DS because of MegaUpload links. Files on MU seem to be hosted forever and hardly ever expire and it's fast! But once I caught a virus from MU, so be careful. I was told this happens more often with MU than with other hosts like 4shared, don't know, if this is correct. I know what you mean about dling from IRC, one wrong command or sentence and it can get very embarrassing, happened to me a few times >.< (once I got booted from #lurk because of a false command and I couldn't enter for about 20 or 30min)...I don't like to chat there (i'm simply to slow and shy @.@), just dl. And I prefer channels which have bot lists, where you just can search for your manga and copy/paste the command,so no false commands anymore =D.

The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Anime Discussion / List of Anime Sites

I know this is a very common thread, but I loved the respective thread in the General Manga Discussion ! Where do you usually download your animes? Please post your recommendations here. Just Infos sites are welcome, too. Here is my list: AnimeEDEN (found some rare mangas there) Aarinfantasy (Mostly Yaoi, but also some nice non-yaoi stuff, but browsing is difficult and complicated, you really have to be patient!) AnimeA (they don't host licensed animes) Anime-Kraze (not much experiences with this) BleachExile (not only Bleach) Info site: AniDBIRC: #anime-4ever@irc.immortal-anime.net (I haven't tried out this one, just got it as a recommendation. Does anybody know this channel? How is it stocked?) Does anybody have any recommendations for other IRC channels for dling anime? Hope to hear from you ! hugs, Kaira

Sorry, for my late reply on this. But I would recommend a more general archive utility tool, like IZArc. Just google for IRCArc and you'll get a lot of dl options (sorry, for not providing one). It's free and very easy to use. And it can handle a wide variety of formats, not only zip and .rar. You have to take care to dl the correct versions for your Windows system. But I don't know, if it's already compatible with Windows 7.

Thank you guys, for all the links for previous GB manga volumes! I really appreciate your hard work and all the previous time you're investing . The only thing is, I don't trust the host you're using. Once I got a attacked by a virus when I was entering the host site . Fortunately, I didn't get infected but after such an attack you always have to do a thorough scan to exclude the infection possibility. My HD is full of mangas, lots of GB, so a antivirus scan will always take me a whole day .

The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: Who here loves Japanese honorifics?

Ahhhh....i have to contribute here as well, through it's not an opposite point of view >.<, sorry! I love the honorifics, it's so japanese and so special, and so not european. For me, it's somehow wrong when they're replaced by Mr/Mrs or even when the japanese names are translated O.O (once read a mengas where the names were translated, creepy!). So, I voted for please keep the honorifics!

Thank you guys, for your nice welcome ! Yeah, a trip to Japan is really worth the huge amount of money it will cost =D. I think it will take some time for me, too, to go again because it was really, really expensive :O. I was lucky anyways because I went with my karate sensei. So it was a bit cheaper for me in the end due to my senseis connections. But I had to train a lot, with japanese senseis....@.@... that was tough, most of the time I was exhausted, but thrilling though... @Lin: Whow, learning and knowing Japanese is really cool! I envy you . I'd give anything for being talented enough to do so....I'm a hopeless case when it comes to learning foreign languages >.<. Btw, never say never, imagine: one day you'd be able to visit Japan and knowing to speak Japanese O.O....Japan has a lot more to offer when you know the language . I've got a thing for exclamation marks, too . Once one of my buddies told me that if you add more than 3 exclamation marks at the end of a sentence, it'll be a sign of psychosis . That really affected me Since then, I'm watching over the numbers of my exclamation marks...trying to hide the fact that I'm a hopeless psycho .

Interests and Hobbies / TV and Movies / Re: Best Horror / Zombie Movies

Hi folks ^^
well I'm a big horror movie fan and thought maybe I'm not alone :3 You're definitely not alone, Laverna =D. I'm a horror fan, too. I also watched The Ring and Shaun of the Dead. The Ring is really creepy :O. Shaun of the Dead is a nice Zombie movie . Some of my favourites are unusually ones: The Tales of Terror (1962) with Vincent Price (this guy was born 1911!). Adapted from Edgar Allan Poe. My brother is a huge fan of old american movies from the 30ties to 70ties. That's why I got to see that horror treasure. A compilation of 3 short stories about being buried alive and resurrection from death. Very creepy O.o. Books by Edgar Allan Poe give me goose-bumps of fear anyways. The Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp. a brilliant mixture between horror and comic. I loved the humour there. Johnny Depps's a brilliant actor anyways. I'm crazy about most of his films. Btw, did you know that īDepp` in german means dork/moron (but it's a mild, not to vulgar expression)? Hehehe....I bet Johnny Depp was told about that a thousend times by german journalists...;-) The Blair Witch Project: What makes the movie really angsty is the fact that you just don't see anything! And in the end you still don't know what hapened.

wow, this ia really interesting discussion here, not only because of the dl sites =D. I also wondered how many dl sites will be affected by the recent events against scanlators and piracy? Hopefully MT will survive this (my favourite website). I've a got a few dl sites to add: The Evil Empire (a forum, you need 10 non-spam posts for dl) Bleach Exile (not only Bleach!) Nihonomaru (forum) I mostly use #lurk, too. It's often faster, especially compared to MT (though they improved their servers somehow, you won't need a day anymore for 50mb)

Hi , I'm Kaira. Not exactly new, but here's my introduction (better late than never ;-). But I fear it will bore you to no end, there's not so much to tell about me @.@. i'm female, Getbackers fan, manga-addict, absolutely in love with Japan, that means country, people, culture, martial arts (that one may go under culture, ne?) and food. I once visited Japan 2 years agao, it was the best trip I ever had =D. I'm training budo since I'm a kid. Aside from that I love skiing, reading manga, hunting for mangas in the web, the evil ones and a very sexy and bold man called Joe. What else to say? Dislikes? Ermmm...no...i'll stop tormenting you here now Thank you guys from GMS for your lovely forum and your hard work to get us lurkers and leechers Get Backers! hugs, Kaira
