1  The Honky Tonk Lounge / Getbackers Manga Discussion / Re: Minor characters that you can't forget. on: March 28, 2012, 11:50:20 am
1) Amo-yan - love him and Emi-yan both to bits
2) Saizou Tofuuin - who ripped out his black cocooned heart to save Kazuki
3) Toshiki Uryuu

I miss onemanga! I like online readers, especially when browsing for new series, but once I latch onto a good series, I tend to browse for updates from sites like baka-updates and then locate the original scanlator sites for the latest releases (which is how I found this awesome site).

My most consistent download sites for random mangas over the years have been evilempire and stoptazmo.

I'm all for keeping them. It tells you the dynamics between the characters and the subtlety in their relationships. I particularly like it when Emishi uses "han" immediately identifying him as the Kansai-esque joker of the story   Cheesy

Hmm I think it's Loulan too. Thanks for the enlightening discussion!

I was looking for a thread on your GB favourite character because I wanted to talk about Emishi and his friendship with Amon. I seriously love that pair and their lame jokes.

Spoiler alert:

They both bring death, yet all they wanted was to make people smile. It touched me how Emishi was willing to continue hanging out with Amon even while his life force was being sucked out of him. I suppose Amon had to die if Emishi were to survive but it was so sad. I wept during the stand-up comedy performance between Amon and Emishi, courtesy of Ban' evil eye   Cry

With all the witch blood and stuff and him going after his head-honcho dad I guess it promises to be Ban... for now anyway.
Meanwhile I like to see Kazuki fight, if only because the cool effect of strings and hair flying all over the place  Grin

Thanks for sharing! The list just about covers my usual hunting ground. I also visit Bakaupdates for new releases as they lead me straight to the scanlator sites, which I believe, is how I found Getbackers Manga Scans  ^_^

For something below 200k, not bad. This product was released in 2006. That was four years ago. I wonder if there has been any new development on it since?
10  Interests and Hobbies / Games / Re: Online RPG's that you liked on: June 04, 2010, 08:26:26 pm
I would have mentioned Ragnarok Online and Perfect World too. The graphics in Perfect World is breathtaking, but it's like, a Chinese game and the players don't really speak English, so you're really isolated unless you can read and write Chinese.

Can't afford to MMORPGs at all time-wise - it's too addictive!

Oh, Magic cards! Our Art Class teacher encouraged us to buy and keep them as a reference because the art on them was so gorgeous. Never had the chance to play though. I don't seem to meet a lot of people who do in real life  Undecided
12  Interests and Hobbies / Games / Re: Classic games you played when you were little. on: June 04, 2010, 08:18:45 pm
If this is an attempt to get me to reveal my age, it has succeeded  Tongue

One of my earliest game was in those "Game & Watch"  gadgets that only have one game in it, like Donkey Kong, Hello Kitty and what not.

On the PC, I played Pacman, which came in one of those 5.5 inch floppy discs that actually flopped. The colorful little ghosts were among the most "terrifying" enemies I've met in my entire gaming life. There's also Digger, Tetris and Alley Cat (the bulldogs were pretty badass, despite their lack of pixels). LodeRunner was one of my favourites too.

On the consoles, there was Mario Bros, Ice Climber, Contra, Kungfu, Bomberman, Street Fighter - there's too many but these are what I can name off the top of my head.

Final Fantasy (In order of favouritism) VII, VI, VIII, X
Chrono Trigger
Monkey Island (TM) Series
14  Interests and Hobbies / Games / Re: Harvest Moon on: June 04, 2010, 07:59:43 pm
I loved the series. I've played Harvest Moon, Harvest Moon 2, then Back to Nature and finally Friends Of Mineral Town.

I thoroughly enjoyed FOMT and I have the tendency to turn it into a huge game of analysis for maximum time/profit and time/affection ratio. It's surprisingly addictive and I remember spending hours and hours mining for valuable gems because they are so ...profitable!

15  The Honky Tonk Lounge / General Manga Discussion / Re: Best fight scenes of all the manga books... on: June 04, 2010, 07:49:19 pm
Actually I'm not too much into big powerful fight scenes that you see Ichigo taking part in in Bleach. I do prefer scenes that give more thought to strategy than might. As such, I love Shikamaru fights, especially with Hidan and the one with Kin:

Hunter X Hunter fight scenes are all great too, particularly the ones that involve Killua or Kurapica.
