Have you seen the episode where they go to america, and jeremy puts a cow on the roof of a Camaro? That was my favorite episode they showed.

Ill go make a thread about it in the TV section, check the thread out.

Also, how do you like the updates to the forum? I made it so that staff members had a different colored name, and even added a reputation system.

Yea, I changed the color of the staff members name colors. Global mods have blue names, the editors will have purple names,  I have a red name, and normal mods once we get some will have green names.

Im thinking of changeing the websites colors but im not sure if I want to yet.

Sorry I don't even listen to radio...even in the car! Haa haa...so I don't really know anything about music! Maybe a few famous singers like Lady Gaga!  :-X The only time I listen to music is when I listen to anime (I love the opening for some of anime)...and then it mostly Japanese music! For example, I noticed that group Flow does a lot of music for Naruto and Code Geass...but I don't think that you want to know or listen to Japanese music. Yeah...I strange like that!

Is that aqua timez new one or the newest bleach opening?

Title: Re: good bands ?
Post by: somehow_here on February 23, 2010, 06:15:26 pm
Hee hee! Sorry! Should have clarify it better! I prefer "Velonica" over "ALONES," which are both done  by Aqua Timez. The newest opening for Bleach, "Anima Rossa (アニマロッサ)" by Porno Graffitti , is somewhat lacking to me! It lacks a certain flow to the melody. I prefer their song, "Tonight, Even if You Can’t See the Moon," in Bleach Movie 3: Fade to Black. Now that song was catchy!

Title: Re: good bands ?
Post by: somehow_here on February 24, 2010, 07:31:19 am
You didn't watch the 3rd Movie yet! Shame on you! :P Just kidding! I really don't like watching movies for anime, either! Usually the movies don't add on anything...instead they tend to focus on new characters! I just watch the movies so I can actually say I watch everything about the series. Anyway, the 3rd Movie was not bad. It was mostly about Rukia and the new characters. It barely manage to focus on Ichigo...even though he is the main character...

Oh, really! It was pretty interesting movie! My only qualm with it is its focus on Senna. But like all anime movies (with exception of few like Detective Conan), the focus is never really on the main character. The story is usually about the newly introduce character(s) and their/his/her story! Anyway, did you bother to watch the 2nd movie...I thought was it sub-par compare to other two movie. It felt even like a fan-service to the girls whom seem to favor Hitsugaya. I didn't care for it that much...and barely remember the music and basic storyline...

I usually prefer individual songs before whole genres, and since nearly every band/musician there is specify in a certain genre, this means it's not easy for me to favor certain bands above others. However, some have succeeded with the impossible, and I guess I can list them for the sake of everyone who finds it mildly interesting. ;D

Japanese bands/musicians:
Ali Project.
Ayumi Hamasaki.
High and Mighty Color.
KOTOKO.
Mizuki Nana.
Nightmare.
T.M. Revolution.

Others:
ABBA (come on! How can you NOT love them!)
Dr Bombay.
Melody Club.
Modern Talking.
Nightwish.
Within Temptation.

Something like that~

Anyone who listens to J-Rock must not miss Buck-Tick. They're like, one of the fathers of J-Rock and visual-kei. If you're turned off by the visual-kei of today's generation, don't worry. B-T looks normal compared to some J-Rock visual kei bands these days. I also rec Kagrra,. They mix elements of J-Rock and Japanese ethnic instruments real good, giving their rock songs an oriental feel. The other J-bands: Sukima Switch, Sunset Swish, Access, acid black cherry, abingdon boys school.

If you're on the C-Pop side, I rec Powerstation. They're a Taiwanese band formed by two brothers, and trust me, they're good.

For some English... 30 Seconds to Mars. Never, ever, pass that band for something else. Never.

And oh. 12 Girls Band. They play instrumental versions of some songs, but what makes them different is that they use traditional Chinese instruments. Watching them live though is completely WOW.

I'm giving one of the best songs of Serú Girán, argentian rock band of the 70' and 80',  charly garcia's band after sui-generis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q082qEVjm_Y

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rJSpZzGhfg&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ4mA8zhrrE&feature=related (this one is far greater knowing that they released it in '82 and knowing a little of argentinian history (little like wikipedia is enough))

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlspcUC3LKI&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyrqdknARv0&feature=related

and while im here, here's some sui generis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuH3S18tlfw&feature=fvw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIGleQ-MJU8&feature=related

Sadly i don't know how to embed the videos, and sadder probably the best sui generis song "rasguñan las piedras" is not availible on youtube, damn sony! well look it online on somewhere else, it's beautyfull!

State of Shock, severely underrated band, such amazing songs people can relate to, yet they're not as well known as they should be :(
Cobra Starship is not bad too, but they're kinda horrible live..

I like a huge range of bands starting from Yellowcard all the way to Killswitch Engage

A couple others are Bullet for my Valentine, Rise Against, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, A Change of Pace, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, and the list goes on and on

ok so i've noticed a decline in good bands lately and i was wondering if anyone heard of any good ones ?

the only music people talk about is shit like dizzy rascle *sigh* ¬¬'

The only reason you think music is declining is because you are growing old and set in your ways... It's sad that this is starting when you're only 16.

As for why people only talking about Dizzee Rascal and what-not, this just means you are only around one kind of people (mentally and culturally).  You should try expanding group circle and look for people with an eclectic musical palette.

I'm more into the old stuff myself... as can be seen from my pandora accounts... which mostly have pink floyd, beatles, queen, and ben folds (not so old but you're 16) and with a combination of other artists ranging from 20's to 2010.

Look into Gogol Bordello

Arcade Fire (anyone see them at Coachella? Totally killed it!) and Ra Ra Riot!

And Mika is absolutely lovely! <3

The Limousines are pretty cool, I also like Kings of Convenience. They're two pretty different sounds, though.

Just recently bought Tix to the Guardian concert down here in Melb in November. should be awesome
