I haven't really read that many, but out of the ones I have read, my favorites are "To-Aru Majutsu no Index" and "Shakugan No Shana".

ahhh anywhere I can find them online?? light novels seem like heavy manga but i guess it will be nice to try..

Haruhi Suzumiya :D  I saw the first light novel on a bookstore once but I didn't have enough money to get it, haven't seen it since  :-\

Hmmm... I havent read much but the ones I really like is

Shakugan no shana ^^
Fate Zero ( I just love anything fate stay night :3 Seeiiiibbbbaaaa~!! :P )
Kara No Kyoukai ( Although I've read only bits a pieces there .... but its still good XD )
Trinity Blood ( again just bits and pieces of the different novels , but I'm a trinity blood fan~!! :P )

I haven't read many japanese novels but i like Psycho Busters! It's so nice to read and watch Rando's art at the same time : >

I can finally catch up with Fate/Zero and To-Aru Majutsu no Index

Other than that only other light novel I have read was some of the Full Metal Panic ones.

I rather enjoy Koukaku no Regios.  Found out about it after seeing the anime, so I watched that, then went and looked to see where it was adapted from.

The only light novel i read : Kino's journey.

I totally forgot about that one! I read it before! It was VERY good! Must be getting old or something!


I  discovered it the same way! The anime was pretty good! The novel just added more!

ahh you read Kino no Tabi too! I sort of watched the animated version of it till half way and lost my videos when my com died on me :-\ But it was really interesting. Like fairy tails to me;)

Light novel rocks!!! I bought a few this month and I am reading it through it when I have the time. Finished (all vol 1) : Guin Saga, Twelve Kingdoms, The Adventures of Duan Surk and Trinity Blood.

The only light novels I read was the one based on xxxHoLiC and the first vol of Trinity Blood, which was both okay. There doesnt seem to be much tranlationed. I know there are translation groups, but with novels, I prefer to actually read it from the book then on the PC. I'm kind of interested in reading the novel based off Deathnote as well.

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria.

Light novels? What exactly are they? Just novels based on the manga?

Toradora! The first light novel series I really got into

I only read part of DRRR after watching the anime but it was in drips and draps coz I couldn't find the full light novel set online and with a systematic flow...(like one chapter was here then it flew to a way beyond chapter) D:

I can't read Japanese novels even if I want to.
But I would really love to try Kino no Tabi.
I tried to find the English version in my town or some good translations for it but failed. :(
I wanted to buy it online as well but I don't understand any sort of procedure.

So if you know of a good translation of it online, please leave me a message. :)

I'm really picky with light novels, as I tend to lean towards classical literature for leisure reading.
Though I do have a handful of favourites that I ended up following/loving after watching its anime counterpart :D;;;

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria is probably my favorite series (really wish there were a timeline for the fifth one).

Haruhi, Zero no Tsukaima and Fate/Zero are also quite good.

I'd love to read Baccano!, but unfortunately the translation effort is a bit of a fragmented mess - and they seem to be ignoring the novels covered in the anime.
